SPRING 2005

MATH 691  Rational Numbers & Proportional Reasoning for K-8 Teachers & Mathematics Specialists
This content course is designed to prepare teachers to teach and be a resource to the teachers in the area of rational numbers and can be applied to the proposed K-8 Mathematics Specialist Licensure. Participants will be encouraged to recognize the thought processes involved in using rational numbers and what it means to use rational numbers. The NCTM Numbers and Operations Standards will be addressed including decimals, functions, percents, ratios and proportions. Participants will receive a notebook of materials and other resources. Funding provided by the National Science Foundation and the Virginia Department of Education.

MATH 691 Algebra and Functions for K-8 Teachers and Mathematics Specialists

This content course is designed to prepare teachers to teach and be a resource to the teachers in the area of algebra and functions and can be applied to the proposed K-8 Mathematics Specialist Licensure.  Resources will include the Developing Mathematical Ideas Algebra materials as well as work from the NCTM Navigations series.  Funding provided by the National Science Foundation and the Virginia Department of Education.
