Policy Initiatives

(i)         Working with elected officials concerning pending legislation, studies and regulatory changes that may affect math and science education in Virginia;

(ii)        Developing position papers and presentations (often building on Coalition research and white papers) addressing specific issues of concern that are submitted or made to math and science education policy-makers for their consideration as legislation, regulations or agency policy is developed or to suggest changes that are needed;

(iii)       Communicating regularly with education agency leaders and staff regarding implementation of math and science programs and curricula; and

(iv)       Reviewing and commenting on Standards of Achievement, Standards of Learning, curricula, and licensure requirements affecting math and science education.
